KSDK -- A man whose alleged run from the law ended with two Jefferson County deputies injured has been charged.

Jefferson County Sheriff Oliver "Glenn" Boyer said that today the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney's Office charged 28-year-old Christopher Michalek of Eureka with two counts of assaulting a law enforcement officer, one count of resisting arrest and one count of resisting/interfering with an arrest.

Sheriff Boyer said that around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, a deputy on patrol near Highway PP near Antire Road spotted a man with an active felony warrant driving a black GMC pickup truck. The deputy tried to pull the truck over, but it sped away.

Boyer said the truck forced several vehicles off the road before turning onto Highway 30. The vehicle continued eastbound and exited into the Gravois Bluffs Shopping Center. Then the driver turned the truck onto Highway 141 and sped off to Arnold.

The vehicle stopped on Astra Way near 141 and deputies tried to approach the vehicle. The suspect then allegedly backed up, injuring a deputy nearby. The driver of the truck sped off and the pursuit resumed. The deputy wasn't seriously hurt.

After traveling north on Highway 21, the truck eventually stopped in a Dierberg's parking lot near Mattis Road. This time, the suspect and his female passenger were taken into custody.

A second deputy also sustained minor injuries during the pursuit.
