KSDK -- Family members of a 14-year-old Ferguson boy shot and killed during the Fourth of July holiday weekend have identified him as Dakeem Hinton.

The Major Case Squad is investigating the drive-by shooting that happened in the 2800 block of Meadowlark in Jennings Friday evening.

One neighbor said after she saw the shooting, she ran outside and started giving the boy CPR. She worked on him for 23 minutes until paramedics arrived. But the boy had several gunshots to his legs, neck, torso and back.

"The victim was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later," said Major Case Squad investigator Lt. Jeff Gray. "We have several leads that we are following up on right now. I don't really have anything else to add but we do have 18 detectives from the major case squad to follow up on this."

Crimestoppers is offering a $1,000 reward to anyone with information. The Crimestoppers hotline is 866-377-TIPS.
