KSDK -- For many fans the All-Star experience was less about having a ticket and more about simply being with other members of Cardinal Nation.
Tuesday evening saw dozens of people gathered downtown to watch the All-star Game outdoors at Citygarden, free of charge. There were long lines outside Busch Stadium as lucky fans made their way into the All-Star Game many said they would remember forever.
Sisters Debby Ottmer and Sharon Mattingly were part of one group of fans who didn't have tickets to the All-Star Game. That didn't stop them from being a part of the action by watching the game at Citygarden.
"This is awesome and I think its one of the best things they have ever done and we are enjoying it," said Sharon Mattingly.
Praise came from Larry Koger, a visitor from San Francisco.
"It's wonderful and I am in hog heaven so its killing me it's so nice," said Koger.
Locals also could not say enough about the unofficial watch party.
"It's great, I'm glad they did it. The city needed something like this," said Cardinals fan Daniel Goree.
