KSDK -- Food Outreach has a new tool to help them deliver meals to clients' homes.
The Harrah's Foundation donated $55,000 to pay for a refrigerated truck for Food Outreach. The organization used $46,000 to buy a 2007 Dodge Ram and install the cool box. The rest of the money will be used to cover maintenance and gas for the vehicle. It unveiled the truck at a ceremony Monday morning at 3117 Olive Street.
In the past, Food Outreach delivered food in coolers, which limited the number of clients they could deliver to in each trip.
The organization also spent the day cooking up a Thanksgiving feast for clients. Turkey, duck, potatoes, stuffing, vegetables and pumpkin pie will be served restaurant-style in the Food Outreach dining room.
