ST. LOUIS – Patricia Clark and her 6-year-old granddaughter were getting ready to leave for school on Thursday morning.

Clark saw two men walking toward her with surgical masks. Clark said it isn't out of the ordinary seeing people with masks over their faces this time of year to stay warm.

But then, the unthinkable happened, "I wasn't going to engage. I was kinda shocked because I've never had anything like that happen."

The men approached, showed a gun, and that's when she knew she was being carjacked.

"I was getting out of the car and they were still walking a little bit and then that's when they got into the car, and then when I came around, he stuck that gun at me," she said.

She said it all went down in just a matter of seconds and there was no way for her to react. Her only concern was for her granddaughter.

"I even smashed the door on her hand trying to get her away from the car," she said.

She said it was a crime of convenience. She believes the men were just robbing anyone they saw, and she looked like an easy target.

"My purse was in there, they took everything," she said.

She said even knew something wasn't right in the moments leading up to the incident.

"Yeah, if you think something is wrong, it is. Especially if you see people walking around like that."

Three suspects were taken into custody, and three cars were recovered. Clark's car was returned to her on Thursday evening.
