18-year-old killed after crashing into oncoming traffic in Washington County

The driver of the semi-trailer truck, a 63-year-old man, had non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash. He was taken to the hospital.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Mo. — A woman was killed as the result of a fatal two-vehicle crash Monday morning on Missouri State Highway 21 in Washington County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, 18-year-old Peyton Kail from Potosi, Missouri, was driving northbound on MO-21, south of Cambell Road in a pickup truck when she crossed the center line while going around a curve and struck a semi-trailer truck head-on in oncoming traffic. 

The Washington County coroner pronounced Kail dead at the scene. 

The driver of the semi-trailer truck, a 63-year-old man from Caledonia, Missouri, had non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash. Paramedics transported him to a hospital for treatment.

Both crash victims were reportedly wearing seat belts at the time of the incident.
