Brent Solomon is an anchor at 5 On Your Side in St. Louis, Missouri.
For two decades, Brent has worked in television news. He currently co-anchors 5 On Your Side at 4 p.m. alongside Kay Quinn.
A native of Tampa, Florida, Brent’s proud to call Missouri home. He came to 5 On Your Side in January 2022 from WWBT in Richmond, Virginia. Before moving to Richmond, he worked as a reporter in Tampa and Miami, Florida; Little Rock, Arkansas; Albany and Savannah, Georgia.
Brent went into journalism because he believes presenting the unbiased truth and holding the powerful accountable helps viewers live better lives. These are ideas that he shares with the students he teaches as an adjunct professor at Virginia State University and Virginia Union University.
Throughout his career, Brent has interviewed many influential people, including President Jimmy Carter, then-Vice President Joe Biden, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Ambassador Andrew Young and singer Trey Songz.
Brent’s journalism has been recognized with numerous awards, including “Best Reporter in the Virginias” by the Associated Press in 2020, 2019 and 2017; “Best Spot News Coverage” by the Associated Press in 2020; recognized by the University of Florida’s “40 Gators Under 40” list in 2020, and he was nominated for a regional Emmy Award for education reporting in 2017.
Brent earned a bachelor’s degree in communication from University of Florida and a master’s in communication from Purdue University. He enjoys public speaking, mentoring, fitness and giving back to the community. He lives by the motto, “To whom much is given, much is required.”
