Jacob Kuerth is the senior producer of digital video at 5 On Your Side in St. Louis.

As senior producer, Jacob develops and executes the overall strategy for 5 On Your Side video platforms, including ksdk.com, 5+, the 5 On Your Side mobile app and YouTube.

Jacob’s interests are wide and varied, but he particularly enjoys working on stories that touch on history and how it relates to current events. He hopes someone who's watched a piece he's produced learns a new fact or two by the time they've finished.

Jacob grew up in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, about 90 minutes east of St. Louis, watching 5 On Your Side. This is his second stint at the station. He began his career as an intern in 2004 and was hired as a production assistant before being promoted to a digital producer—back when the station only had two. After working in marketing and public relations for several years, Jacob returned to 5 On Your Side in 2018.

His interest in news began when he was still in elementary school watching “On the Road” featuring legendary CBS reporter Charles Kuralt telling the stories of everyday people and life in America. Jacob firmly believes that every person has a story, and he considers it an honor to help them figure out what it is and how to tell it.

Jacob has had the privilege of meeting several network news anchors, including the late Walter Cronkite, Dan Rather and Brian Williams. He chronicled Williams’ visit to St. Louis to broadcast “NBC Nightly News” in 2006. And meeting Tom Brokaw is still on his bucket list.

Jacob studied communications at Washington University in St. Louis. When he’s not working, he dotes on Coco, his 7-year-old rescue dog, and spends time with friends. He also enjoys documentaries, reading, traveling, cooking, building Lego sets and a good karaoke night.
