Jacob Kuerth is a digital desk producer at 5 On Your Side in St. Louis.

As a digital desk producer, Jacob urgently and aggressively covers breaking and developing stories, manages newsroom assignments and oversees the quality of 5 On Your Side digital content efforts across all platforms.

Jacob’s interests are wide and varied, but he particularly enjoys reporting on stories that touch on history and how it might relate to current events. He wants someone watching or reading a report he’s a part of to learn something they may not have known by the time they’re done with it.

Jacob grew up in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, about 90 minutes east of St. Louis, watching 5 On Your Side. This is actually his second stint at the station. He began his career as an intern in 2004 and was hired as a production assistant before being promoted to a digital producer – back when the station only had two! After working in marketing and public relations for several years, Jacob returned to 5 On Your Side in 2018.

His interest in news began when he was still in elementary school watching “On the Road” featuring the legendary CBS reporter Charles Kuralt telling the stories of everyday people and life in America. Jacob firmly believes that every person has a story, and he considers it a privilege to help them figure out what it is and how to tell it.

Over the years, Jacob has had the privilege of meeting several network news anchors, including the late Walter Cronkite, Dan Rather and Brian Williams. He chronicled Williams’ visit to St. Louis to broadcast “NBC Nightly News” in 2006. And oh, meeting Tom Brokaw is still on his bucket list!

Jacob studied communications at Washington University in St. Louis. When he’s not working, he dotes on Coco, his 4-year-old rescue dog, and spends time with friends. He also enjoys reading, traveling, cooking and a good karaoke night.
