Rene Knott is Michelle Li’s co-anchor on Today in St. Louis. He started at 5 On Your Side in 2004 as sports director, and moved to the morning show in 2016.

“I consider our morning TISL team family. They’re some of the best people I know,” said Rene. “Another reason I love working in St. Louis is the people who live here. I enjoy telling their stories and getting to share their experiences.”

Rene was born in Hollywood, and after playing football and earning a degree from Southern Oregon State College, Rene landed his first job at KDRV-TV in Medford, Oregon. After leaving Oregon, he made stops in Mobile, Alabama and Washington D.C. before moving to St. Louis.

Rene says he’s enjoyed every stop along the way, but St. Louis is special.

“We have a sports scene with traditions and expectations,” said Rene. “But most of all, St. Louis has community. I am happy to be here.”

Throughout his career Rene has earned three Emmys and covered many memorable stories, but he says the most exciting thing he’s done was travel to South Korea to cover the 2018 Winter Olympics.

“I got to see and do so much, and I felt being able to tell the stories of the athletes and culture was tremendous,” said Rene.
