St. Louis Bread Co. in downtown St. Louis officially closed

The Bread Co. in downtown St. Louis closed on Nov. 19 at 2 p.m.

ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis Bread Co. in downtown St. Louis has closed its doors for good.

The restaurant closed on Nov. 19 at 2 p.m.

Last week, a sign went up outside the store at 6th and Pine that said, ‘This café is closing Nov. 19.’

The company said it decided to close with the expiration of its lease. It is also working to relocate all employees to other area locations. 

Statement from Panera

‘For years, the St. Louis Bread Co. at 6th and Pine has been privileged to serve the downtown St. Louis community.  With the expiration of our lease, we have decided to close this bakery-cafe on Nov. 19.  We’ll continue to have presence Downtown and will service guests wanting to dine in, carry out or opt for delivery from the St. Louis Bread Co. bakery-cafe located at 2018 S. 7th St. Additionally, we’re working to relocate all associates and managers to other area cafes. We’re grateful for the community’s loyal patronage of the 6th Street location and encourage them to visit us at the Soulard bakery-cafe.’

The next closest location to downtown is Bread Co. in Soulard along S. 7th Street.
