TROY, Mo. — For more than 35 years, the Krumbly Burger in Troy, Missouri, has been serving up loose meat burgers. But this Memorial Day weekend, the family-owned burger joint will shutter.

The Bass family opened the Krumbly Burger in 1987 in Troy's Tyme Square, according to the restaurant's website. The business moved to its current location on Front Street in 2002.

The owners shared the "bittersweet" news last month that Saturday, May 25, would be their last day in business at the location.

"We have a buyer for our building and property," the announcement on Facebook said. "It will no longer be a Krumbly Burger. It will be a Bandanas BBQ!"

According to the post, the owners will be taking the summer off to focus on Lincoln County Commissioner Matt Bass' reelection campaign, develop a food truck to bring Krumbly Burger back in the fall and spend time with their 10 grandchildren.

In the announcement, the restaurant owners invited the community to drop in on or before May 25 and said the whole family would be there on the business' last day.

Since the closing announcement, the Troy community has shown an outpouring of support for the family business, with previous employees and lifelong customers stopping by to get another taste of Krumbly Burger.
