ST. LOUIS — In celebration of National Pizza Day last week, Yelp shared its Top 100 pizza spots across the country and it included one St. Louis restaurant.
The review website named the pizza from Anthonino's Taverna, located at 2225 Macklind Ave., No. 78 across the United States. It was the only restaurant from Missouri to make the list.
The list was created based on several factors including the number and volume of five-star reviews by members of the "Yelp Elite Squad."
The family-owned restaurant on The Hill has been open since 2003. It serves a mix of Italian and Greek menu items from pizza and pasta to Dolmathes and Greek yogurt tzatziki, their websites said.
Here's what some Yelp users had to say about Anthonino's:
"The pizza was cooked to perfection, crispy crust and fresh tomatoes. The mozzarella and basil added the perfect amount of flavor to the dish," a review said.
"The sweet & spicy pizza was all that I want in a pizza - sweet from the honey, spicy from the nduja sausage, and rich from the goat cheese," a Yelp user said.
"Now the pizza, this place has the best pizza! The crust is nice and thick, and it has tons of sauce and cheese. Great cheese pulls on this pizza & it even reheats great in the oven the next day!" another review said.
