Pro football Hall of Famer Jackie Smith wants you to take a road trip

Smith, the former Football Cardinal tight end, is devoting his time to spreading the word about a moving memorial to Vietnam veterans. It's a replica of The Wall, and it's just an hour's drive from St. Louis.

ST. LOUIS — If you've always wanted to see the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, but can't make it to Washington DC, we have good news for you.

An exact replica of The Wall, a big moving tribute to those who gave their lives for our country in the Vietnam War, is just a short drive outside of St. Louis.

That's right.

It's called the Missouri National Veterans Memorial, and it's nestled just outside of Perryville, Missouri, about an hour's drive from St. Louis.

And an NFL Hall of Fame inductee is devoting his time to spreading the word about the Wall here in Missouri.

Former Football Cardinal tight end Jackie Smith is urging everyone to visit this moving memorial to the men and women who gave their lives for their country in the Vietnam war.

The centerpiece of the Missouri National Veterans Memorial is an exact replica of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington DC, nicknamed The Wall. The Missouri version was all started by Vietnam veteran Jim Eddleman. He's a Perryville native, who made a promise to the comrades he lost in the war that they would never be forgotten.
