One Kidney Climb: Advocating for World Kidney Day

He donated his kidney to a stranger but is still living his best life. Hear about his next big adventure to advocate for World Kidney Day on March 14.

ST. LOUIS — What if you send a bunch of kidney donors to climb a tall mountain to spread the word about living kidney donation? Well, that's exactly what today's guest is here to do.

Friday morning, Mary Caltrider sat down with living kidney donor Kevin Cox, to share his story and help advocate for World Kidney Day on March 14.

Approximately 90,000 Americans are on the kidney donation waiting list. Kevin Cox, a resident of Chesterfield, MO jumped in to help. In September 2022, he donated his left kidney to a stranger and was back at work remotely a few days later. But that didn't stop him from living his best life.

He became an athlete running a half-marathon 4 months later, goes hiking with local running clubs, and does so much more.

His biggest challenge will be joining 14 other kidney donor athletes to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro on March 14 for World Kidney Day. Not only is it a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but it is a chance to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation and how you can help save another person's life.
