'Painted Pieces' on exhibit now at the World Chess Hall of Fame

Painted Pieces: Art Chess from Purling London on display at the World Chess Hall of Fame.

St. Louis, MO — Painted Pieces: Art chess from Purling London is on display now at the World Chess Hall of Fame. This exhibit is turning the typical chess set on its head. Forget brown and white or black and white chess pieces, this is what happens when 20 artists get ahold of chess sets.

The exhibit features luxury chess sets that have all been painted by artists from around the world.

The sets come a luxury game company called Purling London. There are 20 sets and everything is for sale. Some sets are the color of the rainbow, others actually light up. There's also an interactive section of the exhibit, allowing guests to play with chess sets through virtual reality.

The World Chess Hall of Fame is located at 4652 Maryland Avenue in the Central West End. The number is 314-367-9243. Admission is free, the exhibit is now open through September 16th.
