ST. LOUIS — A restaurant that has served St. Louis for 27 years is closing its doors. J.F. Sanfilippo’s Italian Restaurant made the announcement Tuesday.

“It’s been a tremendous run,” said Joe Sanfilippo, the restaurant’s owner and operator. “For 27 years we’ve had the great fortune of meeting and serving so many wonderful customers, many who have become longtime friends. The many memories we have from weddings, engagements, birthdays and anniversary celebrations we’ve hosted will last forever.”

The restaurant is located inside the Drury Inn & Suites at 711 N. Broadway, across the street from The Dome.

The family’s other restaurant in the Chesterfield Valley, Filippo’s Italian Kitchen and Bar, is still open.

Sanfilippo said he’s hoping to see familiar faces at the Downtown location before they close their doors for the last time.

“For 27 years it’s been me and my family developing wonderful relationships with countless families and friends in the area, and we feel that is something worth celebrating.”
