FESTUS, Mo. — A suspect wanted for a burglary in Festus called Mercy Hospital in Crystal City saying there was an active shooter as a diversion during the pursuit.
Crystal City police officers along with Jefferson County police officers responded to the hospital and determined there was no shooter.
Police later found the suspect in Red Bud, Illinois and he admitted to making the false active shooter call.
The suspect told officers he specifically called the hospital directly because he knew 911 would track him.
