ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — An 18-year-old man was charged last week after police said he carjacked an Uber driver at gunpoint in Florissant.

Dejohn Colbert was charged with individual counts of vehicle hijacking with a dangerous weapon and armed criminal action on June 7 in connection with an incident earlier that day.

The Florissant Police Department said Colbert and another person ordered a ride via Uber. Colbert and his accomplice, who was not named in a press release from the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, got into the car and one of them pointed a gun at the driver's neck.

Police said Colbert then forced the driver to hand over his keys and wallet and forced him out of the car.

Colbert then drove off in the man's car, according to police. Police said officers found and chased after Colbert, leading to a crash near the intersection of New Halls Ferry Road and Thoroughbred Lane.

Colbert got out of the car and tried to run away, but police caught him. Officers said Colbert had a Bersa Thunder 380 handgun when he was taken into custody.

Colbert is being held on a $200,000, cash-only bond.

A preliminary hearing is set for July 6.
