6 dead, 7 injured in shootings over the weekend in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS — It was a violent weekend in the City of St. Louis. Six people were fatally shot and seven people were injured. 

Since April 17 at 10:40 a.m., the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department responded to nine shootings across the city.

The first happened in the 3600 block of S. Broadway, which is in St. Louis’ Marine Villa neighborhood. Zenobia Johnson, 25, was found inside a car with gunshot wounds. She was transported to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead. 

Later that day, around 3 p.m., a 24-year-old man was shot to death in the 4900 block of Fyler Avenue, which is along the edge of the Tower Grove South neighborhood. He’s been identified as Davion Booze. A 21-year-old woman was also injured in the shooting.  She was transported to a hospital where she’s in critical condition. 

Around 6:35 p.m., a 47-year-old man was found shot to death inside a car that was still on. He was found in the Mark Twain neighborhood, near N. Euclid Avenue and Leahy Avenue. He’s been identified as Antonio Montrell Miller. 

Early Saturday morning, police responded to the 4400 block of Beck Avenue, which is in the Tower Grove South neighborhood, for a double shooting. Charmaine Stanfield, 54, was found shot to death and a 62-year-old man was transported to a hospital with gunshot wounds. According to the police report, there is a 29-year-old suspect, but it’s unclear if he is in custody. 

Around 8:10 p.m., police responded to the 1200 block of Blackstone Avenue, which is in the West End neighborhood, after 13-year-old boy was shot. He told police he was walking with a group of friends when a silver Ford Fusion approached them, and two men got out with guns. As the boy and his friends were running, he was hit by gunfire. He was transported to a hospital.

About an hour later, in the 8000 block of Goodfellow Boulevard – which is in the North Pointe neighborhood – two people were injured during shooting that involved acquaintances in an on-going feud, police said. A 20-year-old man was shot in the face and a 19-year-old man suffered a graze wound to his right cheek. 

Sunday afternoon, police responded to the 2600 block of Rutger Street, which is in The Gate neighborhood. Police said a man and a woman in their 50s were found with gunshot wounds to their heads. According to the police report, it’s being investigated as a domestic murder-suicide. 

Around 4:05 p.m., a man in his 20s was shot in the leg by his neighbor in The Ville neighborhood. It happened in the 4100 block of St. Louis Avenue. He was conscious and breathing when he was transported to a hospital, according to the police report.

About an hour later, a man was shot in his right leg by an unknown person. It happened in the O’Fallon neighborhood in the 4100 block of Green Lea Place. He was conscious and breathing when he was transported to a hospital, according to the police report.
