ALTON, Ill. — The Alton Police Department is hoping someone has seen a man they consider armed and dangerous.

Antonio Perkins is wanted for shooting a man after an argument, police said.

On Nov. 29, officers responded to a home in the 800 block of Ridge Street to investigate a shooting. Police believe Perkins and another man got into a fight inside a home, and it ended when Perkins shot the man. The victim survived.

The Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Perkins with one count of aggravated battery with a firearm, one count of unlawful possession of weapons by a felon and one count of armed habitual criminal. Perkins was convicted of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance in 2002—a felony charge—making it illegal for him to own a gun.

Bond was set at $250,000.

However, at this time, Perkins is not in custody and is wanted by police.

Police warned that he is considered armed and dangerous, and if anyone knows where he is to not contact him directly. Instead, they said to call Alton police at (618) 463-3505 or by dialing 911 as soon as possible.

A $500 reward is being offered for information leading to his arrest.
