Belleville man charged with sexual abuse of a minor

Kelyn O. Stephens was charged with four counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a 16-year-old victim and being five years older than the victim, a class 2 felony.

BELLEVILLE, Ill. — A 32-year-old Illinois man is facing sex charges after police said he had engaged in sexual conduct with a 16-year-old victim.

A press release from the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department said Kelyn O. Stephens was charged with four counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a 16-year-old victim and being five years older than the victim, a class 2 felony. He was also charged with sexual exploitation of a child.

Police said the alleged crimes occurred in May and June of 2018. Police said he was an acquaintance of the victim's family at the time of the alleged crime.

He is being held in the St. Clair County Jail on a $200,000 bond.
