Man charged in connection with deadly New Year's Day shooting in St. Louis County

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A man was charged Thursday after police said he was involved in the deadly shooting of a man in Moline Acres on New Year's Day.

Jermain Small, 52, was charged with second-degree murder, tampering with physical evidence and unlawful possession of a firearm in connection with the shooting death of Stacy Durham.

Officers discovered Durham while investigating a suspicious vehicle near the intersection of Edgefield and Hollis drives. Durham was found dead inside the vehicle with gunshot wounds.

In a probable cause statement, officers said Small was the last person seen with the victim. Officers said Small admitted to driving the victim's car to the intersection of Edgefield and Hollis and leaving it there.

The probable cause statement said he also admitted to possessing two guns despite being a felon who was convicted of possession with the intent to distribute marijuana in March of 2003.

Small's bond was set at $250,000.
