Man charged in deadly shooting outside a Ferguson meat market turns self in

FERGUSON, Mo. – St. Louis County prosecutors charged a man with voluntary manslaughter and armed criminal action in a shooting that left a man dead outside of Sam’s Meat Market in Ferguson.

On Tuesday, police responded to Sam’s Meat Market where Keith Spencer Jr. was found shot. He was transported to a hospital where he died from his injuries.

Jeremiah Peebles, 21, is facing one count of voluntary manslaughter and armed criminal action.

According to court documents, a store manager escorted Peebles and Spencer out of the store after they were arguing with each. Spencer handed his gun to the manager but continued to argue with Peebles outside the store. Police said Peebles had a gun while the two continued to argue in the parking lot.

Police said Spencer punched Peebles in the face and that's when Peebles fired his weapon. Spencer tried to run away as Peebles kept firing his weapon.

The Ferguson Police Department announced Friday afternoon that Peeples had turned himself in.
