Man charged after shooting, killing 16-year-old son, police say

Isaiah Walker of Jennings died a few days after he was shot in the head in January.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued charges Wednesday in the death of a 16-year-old boy.

Carl Walker Jr., 51, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm.

The St. Louis County Police Department said Isaiah Walker of Jennings was shot in the head on Jan. 24. He died of his injuries on January 27, 2024.

Carl Walker is Isaiah Walker's father.

The police investigation revealed Carl Walker and Isaiah Walker argued at their home and then left together in Carl Walker's car. They were seen walking back toward their home. Police said that's when Carl Walker shot Isaiah Walker.

Carl Walker admitted to the shooting, police said.

Carl Walker was seen hiding a .45 caliber handgun magazine and clothing in a trash can, police said. The hidden items were recovered.

He is a felon and was prohibited from possessing a firearm. Carl Walker was held on a $500,000 cash-only, no 10%, bond.

The incident happened on the 9000 block of Halls Ferry Road in north St. Louis, near the city's border with Jennings.
