Man charged with fatal Metro bus shooting admits to second murder

While in custody, he was questioned by St. Louis Metro police. They said he admitted to another fatal shooting that took place on July 5 on the 4200 block of Natural Bridge Road.

Talib M Ziyad, 36, is in custody and facing charges for two different killings after police said he fatally shot a man riding on a Metro bus Saturday night and admitted to another shooting while in custody.

NORMANDY, Mo. — A 36-year-old man is in custody and facing charges for two different killings after police said he fatally shot a man riding on a Metro bus Saturday night and admitted to another shooting while in custody.

Police said Talib M, Ziyad was riding on the bus near the 1200 block of South Florissant Road at around 9 p.m. when he got into an argument with another rider, Kenneth Pointer.

Police said Pointer punched Ziyad while they were on the bus, at which time Ziyad pulled out a gun and shot Pointer several times. Pointer then got off the bus to get away, but Ziyad followed him out and shot him a several more times including one time in the back of the head.

A GoFundMe page was created to help Pointer's family.

Police said Ziyad ran off before they could arrive at the crime scene. He was considered armed and dangerous and on the loose until police took him into custody.

While in custody, he was questioned by St. Louis Metro police. They said he admitted to another fatal shooting that took place on July 5 on the 4200 block of Natural Bridge Road.

In that shooting, officers responded to the M&A Market at 4231 Natural Bridge at around 7:45 p.m. where they found 30-year-old Rachaud Grayer suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has started a fundraising campaign to help pay for funeral costs.

Ziyad was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action for each of the two shootings.
