Meth found at Bonne Terre hair salon, owner charged

Whitener was arrested and charged with first-degree trafficking of drugs.

BONNE TERRE, Mo. — A hair salon owner has been charged with trafficking meth at her business in St. Francois County.

A narcotic investigation took police to the Lock and Key Salon in Bonne Terre on Aug. 13. The business belongs to Brittany Whitener.

During a consensual search of the salon and a vehicle, investigators said they found 11 bags, each with an ounce of substance that tested positive for meth. They also found more meth in other containers, several digital scales, glass smoking devices and seven ecstasy pills shaped like hand grenades and the Instagram logo.

Whitener was arrested and charged with first-degree trafficking of drugs.

Editors note: A previous version of the story incorrectly identified the name of the salon as Hairitage Salon.
