17-year-old charged in deadly shooting of missing Washington Park teen

Nunn's family last saw him a week before he found fatally shot in Cahokia Heights.

CAHOKIA HEIGHTS, Ill — A teenager was charged Thursday with first-degree murder in connection with the deadly shooting of a 19-year-old in Cahokia Heights.

Daniel Nunn was found shot and killed Saturday in the area of Melvin and Lazarcheff drives, just off of Camp Jackson Road. He had previously been reported missing to the Washington Park Police Department.

The shooting prompted Cahokia Heights police to activate the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis.

According to the Major Case Squad, investigators followed up on more than 60 leads across the Metro East before identifying 17-year-old Jahrie Samudio as a suspect in the case. He was arrested Tuesday following a police pursuit that ended in East St. Louis.

Jahrie Samudio, 17, was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the deadly shooting of a Washington Park teen.

As of Friday morning, Samudio was in custody at the St. Clair County Juvenile Detention Center. He was charged as an adult in the case.

The relationship between the Nunn and Samudio remained unclear as of Friday morning.
