St. Louis man shot, killed early Sunday morning identified

ST. LOUIS — A man is dead after a shooting early Sunday morning in St. Louis. 

St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call about a shooting at a home located in the 3200 block of North 20th Street around 5 a.m. Police arrived to find a man injured from "undescribed" gunshot wounds, but breathing and conscious.

Police did not say where the victim was shot. 

After EMS transported the victim to the hospital, police said he was pronounced dead sometime later. 

On Tuesday, police identified the victim as 27-year-old Damonte’ Hawthorne of St. Louis. 

A 27-year-old suspect fled the scene but later turned himself in.
