MAPLEWOOD, Mo. — Burger Champ will open Nov. 3 at 2704 Sutton Blvd. in Maplewood, owner Chris Kelling said.

The restaurant is located in the former home of Elmwood, an upscale restaurant concept Kelling opened with his former business partner, Adam Altnether, in January 2019 but closed during the pandemic. Kelling and Altnether parted ways earlier this year, Kelling said.

First announced in March, Burger Champ serves as an extension of the “Champ” brand Kelling launched with Pizza Champ, a restaurant that first operated as a takeaway concept within Elmwood’s location and later moved to its own storefront nearby, at 2657 Lyle Ave. in Maplewood, in January 2022.
