St. Louis County nursing home closes permanently, facility put up for auction

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A nursing home in St. Louis County that had been closed temporarily has shuttered permanently and is up for auction.

The former Bellefontaine Gardens Nursing & Rehab facility at 9500 Bellefontaine Road closed temporarily in April 2022, according to a state website. 

The 7.92-acre facility in the north St. Louis County municipality of Bellefontaine Neighbors will go on the auction block Feb 20-22, according to the auction listing at online marketplace Ten-X. The starting bid is $250,000, according to the website.

It's unclear why the facility closed. The registered agent for the nursing home, Charlotte Stutts of Sikeston, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The property is owned by Nationwide Health Properties Inc. of Phoenix, care of Altus Group, county records show. Classified as residential, the property was appraised by county assessors at $3.1 million this year, according to the county assessment.
