St. Luke's Hospital has been named one of the top hospitals in the country for the seventh year, according to 50 Best Hospitals by Healthgrades.

With its acquisition of Des Peres Hospital now complete, St. Luke’s Hospital plans to undergo a collaborative process to determine future plans and possible enhancements at the independent health care provider’s new facility.

St. Luke’s this week finalized its purchase of Des Peres Hospital from Tenet Healthcare Corp., and the hospital’s name was officially changed to St. Luke’s Des Peres Hospital. In addition, St. Luke’s acquisition includes the Des Peres Medical Office Building and Tenet-owned physician practices in St. Louis. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Tenet put a value of more than $40 million on the assets of Des Peres Hospital.

Christine Candio, St. Luke’s president and CEO, said the purchase of the 143-bed hospital will strengthen St. Luke’s health care network while expanding its footprint in the region. St. Luke's is the last remaining independent hospital in the region after St. Anthony's Medical Center became part of the Mercy system last year.
