A Starbucks proposed in Maryland Heights at the site of a closed Arby's.

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. — A developer is proposing a new location for a national coffee chain, replacing a shuttered fast-food restaurant site that would be demolished.

A Starbucks would be built at 12730 Dorsett Road in Maryland Heights and would replace a vacant former Arby’s under the plan, which is under consideration by the city. The new Starbucks, with a drive-thru, appears similar in renderings to recently built Starbucks locations in south St. Louis County and Collinsville.

The building would occupy about 2,400 square feet, city plans show. The drive-thru lane could accommodate 20 vehicles, the city said.

A developer previously proposed building a Starbucks by demolishing a former Taco Bell, but that plan was later dropped. That proposed site was about 0.3 miles down Dorsett Road from the latest proposal. The Taco Bell site is now under renovation as a Tony's Donuts location.
