Catholic Charities lifts senior living burden

St. Agnes provides low-income seniors with independent apartment living and social services.

ST. LOUIS — Diane Dawne is a 72-year-old who embraces new technology.

“It's the next best thing to be able to see,“ said Diane Dawne.

She uses an iPhone to connect to the service called Aira. It’s a service for the blind that connects the caller to an attendant. That person can hear and see for then.

“I came to feel that you should wear the same color shoe on each foot and we did that today thanks to the nice representative,“ she said.

Simple things we take for granted now made easier for Diane.

“Like what flavor coffee I'm drinking," she said. "I use it a lot to read the mail I use it for a whole lot of things,“ she said.

She also uses it while volunteering at St. Agnes Assisted Living Facility to do her daily rounds to check on other residents.

St. Agnes provides low-income seniors with independent apartment living and social services. It is serviced by Cardinal Ritter Senior Services and you don't have to be Catholic to utilize Catholic Charities services.
