Man killed in rollover SUV crash Thursday was having a medical emergency, police say

Overland resident Bernard McGlawn, 62, died in the Thursday morning crash. Investigators believe the crash happened because he was having a medical emergency.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — Police on Friday named the man who was killed in a Thursday morning single-motor vehicle crash in north St. Louis County. 

The St. Louis County Police Department said the single-car rollover crash happened just before 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Old Halls Ferry Road and Breeders Cup Drive near Old Jamestown in north St. Louis County.  Police said Overland, Missouri, resident Bernard McGlawn, 62, was driving his SUV southbound on Old Halls Ferry Road, just west of Breeders Cup Drive, when he struck a right-side curb.

The SUV crossed the median before it crashed into a tree. His SUV rolled over before it stopped. 

McGlawn was taken to a hospital for treatment but he later died at the hospital. Investigators believe the crash happened because he was having a medical emergency.

The investigation is ongoing and they will provide an update when more information is available.
