Man struck, killed Monday on Tesson Ferry Road was trying to move deer off road

The road has since reopened.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A man was trying to move a deer off of Tesson Ferry Road in St. Louis County when he was struck and killed by an SUV Monday morning, police said. 

Lakeshire Police Chief Tim Sullivan said the crash happened at about 5:30 Monday morning. Sullivan said the man got out of his car after he struck a deer while driving on Tesson Ferry. While he was trying to move the deer off the road, he was struck by a black SUV.

The SUV stayed on the scene.

Multiple family members on Facebook have identified the victim who was killed as Bobby Jones. Police have yet to confirm the name of the man who died.

The roadway was closed for an investigation, but the road has since been reopened.

Lakeshire is just south of Affton. 

The St. Louis County Police Department was on the scene of the crash assisting the Lakeshire Police Department's investigation. 

Police have not released the identity of the victim.
