Dog with terminal cancer visits Gateway Arch for last stop

She checked many boxes off her bucket list including eating hamburgers at some of the best spots around St. Louis, raising awareness and support of animal organizations across the country and getting lots of belly rubs and puppy kisses.

ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis dog with terminal cancer made her final stop St. Louis' iconic landmark.

5 On Your Side shared Brooklyn’s bucket list with you a few weeks ago and we've learned her final stop was at the Gateway Arch on Wednesday.

Brooklyn walked around at the new pet-friendly park grounds and had a picnic with her family. A National Park Ranger also made her an honorary ‘Bark Ranger,’ and Purina will be donating a basket of goodies for Brooklyn to donate to her pet rescue friends.

Brooklyn’s note on her Facebook May 14

To All My Friends and Family,

Tomorrow I will have to say goodbye to you. I fought as hard as I could but it’s now my time to cross the Rainbow Bridge so I don’t have to experience any more discomfort or pain.

You all banded together to make my dreams come true, showing me the true meaning of compassion and community. I never got the pleasure of meeting some of you but know that I heard your prayers and embraced your hugs.

Thank you for praying for me.

Thank you for caring about me.

Thank you for your kind words.

Thank you for supporting me.

Thank you for helping me check things off my bucket list.

Thank you for donating to rescues in my honor.

Thank you for sharing your stories.

Thank you for giving me strength.

Thank you for comforting me.

Thank you for sharing my story.

And most of all

Thank you for loving me!

All My Love and Tons of Snuggles,

Brooklyn

PS: My STL Dog Moms friends were planning a special party for me to raise money for a local rescue. Since I have to say goodbye, I’d be honored if you chose to make a donation to Stray Rescue of St. Louis in my name.

Brooklyn's mom, Caitlin, shared a sweet story with 5 On Your Side while we were there for her final moments. The photo below is Caitlin's now - husband, with Brooklyn. She said this was the moment she realized he'd be her family. Brooklyn wasn't super friendly to men, but she loved him.
