EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. — A single-car crash left one person dead Thursday morning in St. Clair County.
According to Illinois State Police, officers responded at about 7:45 a.m. Thursday to the crash on St. Clair Avenue, east of Interstate 255 in East St. Louis. There, they saw a van had crashed far down in a ditch between two bridge crossings.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, according to ISP. No one else was in the vehicle.
Police are investigating what led up to the crash. Officers were still at the scene as of 9 a.m. Thursday.
