ST. LOUIS COUNTY -- A Best Buy Geek Squad employee has been charged with stealing jewelry from two different homes while on the job.

St. Louis County police officers say that on December 11, 37-year-old Adam Kramer stole an engagement ring valued at more than $26,000 from a home in Ballwin while installing a television.

Kramer confessed to police he stole the ring and sold it to a gold buyer's shop for money to purchase heroin.

On December 29, Kramer was accused of stealing a gold wedding ring and a University of Central Florida class ring from a home in Wildwood where he was installing a television.

He confessed the crime to police, saying he needed money to pay a traffic ticket.

Kramer has been charged with one count of stealing over $500 and one count of stealing over $25,000.

Best Buy has released the following statement concerning the matter:

“Every day, we appreciate the enormous trust our customers place in our employees when they visit their homes. We are extremely disappointed that a former employee would engage in this alleged criminal theft. These actions go against everything we expect of our employees and everything we stand for as a company. We are cooperating fully with local authorities in their investigation.”
