Home Depot employee killed in overnight forklift accident

Police said the man was moving drywall with a forklift, and when he got out, the forklift fell on him.

ST. PETERS, Mo. — A 60-year-old man was killed after a forklift fell on him early Tuesday morning.

Melissa Doss with the St. Peters Police Department said they were called at around 12:15 for a man with a head injury. She said the man was moving drywall with a forklift, and when he got out, the forklift fell on him.

He suffered a head injury and was taken to the hospital for treatment, but died a short time later.

Police said it appears to be an accident.

Home Depot released the following statement:

“We’re deeply saddened by this tragic accident, and our sympathy is with the family. We immediately contacted the proper authorities, including OSHA, and are cooperating with their investigation.”
