'Homemade dynamite' mailed to Jefferson County home

FENTON, Mo. — The St. Louis County Bomb and Arson Unit removed what appeared to be homemade dynamite from a home in the 1700 block of Old Highway 141 in the Jefferson County portion of Fenton on Monday, March 11, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The sheriff’s office got a call at about 2:05 p.m. after someone at the home reported receiving an envelope containing what appeared to be three sticks of dynamite and a bottle filled with something that may have been explosive material. The envelope did not have a return address, the report said.

Deputies closed a portion of the road, but it was reopened at about 4 p.m. after the bomb and arson unit removed the material to examine it and dispose of it safely, according to the report.
