Marijuana sales have generated millions in tax revenue in Illinois and Missouri, but federal law still classifies cannabis as a Schedule I narcotic.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — The licenses of nine Missouri cannabis microbusinesses were revoked Wednesday.

Microbusinesses are small cannabis operations that were designed to allow more people to benefit from the legalization of adult-use marijuana in Missouri.

Owners need to meet one of the criteria: have a net worth less than $250,000, have a military service-related injury, reside in an area 30% below the poverty line, or have non-violent, cannabis-related convictions.

Eleven businesses were put on notice in December. Two businesses satisfied the requirements and were permitted to continue operations.

The businesses that were revoked include:

Higher Love KC LLC

Frankenstein Enemy LLC

Potluck THC LLC

The Joke Smoke SE LLC

The Herbal Home LLC

HIGH AROMA LLC

Seashore Rhythm, LLC

Ever Eco LLC

Cannarooted LLC

While the Missouri Division of Cannabis Regulation verified the eligibility of the businesses, they found that some people listed as the majority owners of eight microbusinesses had little to no knowledge of the operations of the microbusinesses. One license was revoked because the owner had a disqualifying felony offense.
