New restaurant opens in iconic Maplewood spot

MAPLEWOOD, Mo. – A new restaurant has moved into an iconic spot in Maplewood.

Elmwood, a new classic modern American restaurant, opened on Jan. 22 at the corner of Manchester and Sutton.

The name ‘Elmwood’ is no stranger to the City of Maplewood.

“When the city of Maplewood was established around the turn of the 20th century, a potential name for the town was Elmwood,” Altnether said, explaining what inspired the restaurant’s name. “We’ll be serving up a twist to your favorite dishes, and we’re aiming to be known as an upscale neighborhood spot where you can toast to celebrate big moments or just stop by to enjoy a burger and beer.”

Elmwood’s menu is mid-range to high-end American seasonal fare with a focus on grilled elements. From burgers and wings to toasted caramel sauce atop creamy ice cream, each item is flame-kissed on open-charcoal grills.

The new spot is owned by Adam Altnether and Chris Kelling.

The restaurant located at 2704 Sutton Boulevard will be open Tuesday through Saturday and doors open at 5 p.m.
