ST. LOUIS — Veteran journalist Art Holliday began a new role this week at 5 On Your Side – co-host of 5 On Your Side at 4 p.m. alongside Kay Quinn and Chief Meteorologist Scott Connell.

“I’ve worked with Kay and Scott for decades, so it feels very natural and easy to do a newscast with them at 4 p.m. It’s like hanging out with old friends,” said Art. “I certainly appreciate how supportive the 5 On Your Side audience has been to me over the years, and hope the audience appreciates the three of us for our experience and commitment to St. Louis. For 40 years I’ve embraced every opportunity at 5 On Your Side – sports anchor, morning TV anchor, early evening anchor, and storyteller. I feel very comfortable in the anchor chair and I take a lot of pride in my versatility.”

“Art Holliday is a consummate professional with deep roots in St. Louis,” said co-anchor Kay Quinn. “Viewers have relied on and loved him for decades, and Scott and I are excited to welcome him to the show.”

This summer, Art celebrated 40 years at 5 On Your Side. He started his career in 1979 as a sports reporter, covering Cardinals baseball and interviewing national sports figures, including Michael Jordan, John McEnroe, Wayne Gretzky, and Sugar Ray Leonard.

In 1989, Art teamed up with former 5 On Your Side journalist Jennifer Blome to co-anchor Today in St. Louis, a partnership that lasted 22 years. Since moving to a more traditional sleep schedule in 2011, Art has anchored and reported for various newscasts.

“Art Holliday is one of the most-recognized and trusted journalists in St. Louis,” said News Director Carol Fowler. “He, Kay, and Scott form an all-star team at 4 p.m. that I’m confident viewers will automatically choose first.”

Art grew up in St. Charles, Missouri and has received numerous journalistic honors and awards, including Mid-America Emmy Awards, the annual Media Award from the National Alliance on Mental Health, induction into the Hall of Fame of the Greater St. Louis Association of Black Journalists, and selection for the University of Missouri-Columbia’s Faculty-Alumni Award.

When he’s not at 5 On Your Side, Art is often working on his upcoming documentary, Johnnie Be Good.
