PACIFIC, Missouri — In Pacific, Missouri, a driver backed into a nail salon, hitting three people and killing one.
The fatal crash happened Saturday afternoon on East Osage Street as the vehicle was pointing south, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
A car was parked in the lot right in front of Pacific Hair and Nail Spa at 544 East Osage St. just before 2:30 p.m. The driver was a 57-year-old woman from Wildwood.
In the security footage shared with 5 On Your Side by a nearby store, the driver reversed her 2023 Ford Expedition through the salon's wall and backed into the three people who were inside the salon, according to MSHP. The three women were struck, ages 17, 52 and 61.
Jill Goddard, 61, was killed. She was pronounced dead at 3:17 p.m. Saturday after being taken to Mercy Hospital Washington, more than 20 minutes from the salon.
Paramedics took the driver and the 52-year-old woman to Mercy Hospital St. Louis. The 17-year-old girl went to SSM Health St. Clare Hospital for examination.
On Sunday, when 5 On Your Side reached out to the Pacific Police Department regarding the crash, they directed comment back to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report.
An employee of Pacific Hair and Nail said the salon will potentially be closed for a few weeks to work on repairs in the aftermath of the crash.
