ST. LOUIS COUNTY — Free lunches will be served at some local libraries starting Monday.

Some St. Louis County Library branches along with Operation Food Search teamed up to provide lunches to families who rely on free or reduced lunch service during the school year.

This is the fifth summer the program has been offered. Last year, more than 15,000 meals were served.

In addition, free food-filled backpacks will be offered each Thursday through 'Operation Backpack' — a program which aims to decrease hunger throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area. Each backpack comes with nutritious and easy-to-make foods such as canned goods, snack bars and more.

It's free to any child 18 or under. The program runs through August 3.
