St. Louis area dog in the running for 'Hero Dog Awards'

Bandit, is a 7-year-old Great Dane and is in the running for the American Humane Hero Dog Awards. He has been through several surgeries and he’s the official therapy dog for the USO Missouri, Inc.

ST. LOUIS – A local dog is up for a pretty big award.

Bandit, is a 7-year-old Great Dane and is in the running for the American Humane Hero Dog Awards. He has been through several surgeries and he’s the official therapy dog for the USO Missouri, Inc.

He helps wounded warriors learn to walk again. Bandit has escorted children and been there during burial of their military service members. He has sat with military members on suicide watch.

Bandit was rescued as a puppy just minutes before he was supposed to be euthanized due to health concerns.

‘He truly shows the world what can happen when you give a rescue a chance, they can change the world and save lives with just one simple act of kindness.’
