Meet the St. Louis-area dogs that will be in this year's Puppy Bowl

Both dogs are now living happily with their new families, but they represented local animal shelters.

ST. LOUIS — The Puppy Bowl is returning for a 20th season, with adorable puppies competing for the "Lombarky" trophy on Super Bowl Sunday. Among the 131 dogs are two from the St. Louis area.

Indigo, who lived at Five Acres Animal Shelter in St. Charles, and Sadie, who lived at the Humane Society of Missouri, made it as team players for the event. Both have since been adopted and are living happily with their new families.

Indigo came to Five Acres Animal Shelter after someone bought her on the internet and decided they could not take care of her. A news release from the event organizers said she was skinny and covered in fleas. Now, she is living a happy and healthy life with her new family.

Sadie arrived at the Humane Society of Missouri after being rescued from a hoarding case as a newborn, according to the news release. She was placed with a foster family before being drafted into the Puppy Bowl. She now has a new family and enjoys playing tug-of-war with her 10-year-old brother.

Organizers say the Puppy Bowl is the longest-running call-to-adoption TV event. It airs this year on Animal Planet, Discovery, TBS, truTV, Max and Discovery+.

As part of the event, Warner Bros. Discovery is partnering with Best Friends Animal Society to help animals find a loving home. They will match any donations to cover adoption fees for their pet lifesaving centers nationwide made between Feb. 7 and 14. You can donate by texting "Puppy" to 707070 or clicking here.
