Mayor Tishaura Jones tests positive for COVID-19 after attending conference in Baltimore

Jones took a COVID test as a precaution after returning from a trip to Baltimore and received a positive result.

ST. LOUIS — St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones tested positive for COVID-19 Tuesday night, a spokesman for her office said.

According to an email from Nick Dunne, Jones took a COVID test as a precaution after returning from a trip to Baltimore and received a positive result. The email said Jones was experiencing mild symptoms.

Dunne said Jones will work from home and hold meetings virtually over the next five days to protect her staff and others.

Jones is fully vaccinated and boosted, Dunne said. He added that she will continue to test according to CDC guidelines.

Jones was in Baltimore for the National Minority Supplier Development Council conference to discuss the ways recent legislation amplifies contracting opportunities for historically marginalized communities in the allocation of funds to state and local governments.

An email earlier in the week said she would be attending alongside the mayors of Baltimore, Mount Rainier, Maryland; Forest Heights, Maryland; Miramar, Florida and Little Rock, Arkansas.

No tax dollars were used for flight or lodging for the NMSDC Conference.

You can find a vaccination location on the City of St. Louis website or on the CDC website.
