Brentwood, MO (KSDK) -Prosecutors in St. Louis Countyhave charged a local man with two counts of felonyassault and two counts of felony armed criminal action after police say heran over aJimmy John's employee because his order was wrong.
Police say 19-year-old WilliamHampel placedan order at the Jimmy John's store in the 1200 block of Strassner drive on July 2nd.
When the driverdelivered the order,Hampelclaims he received the wrong sandwich. Theemployee explained the policy, that they would refund the money or give him a new sandwich, but Hampel refused to give back the order. The driver left.
Police sayaround 12:10am, Hampel returned to the Jimmy John's and caused a disturbance inside the store. Court documents say that Hampel cursed and threatened the employees and then grabbed a large bag of trash from outside the business and tossed it inside. An employee contacted police, and she and another employeefollowed the suspect out of the store to try and get his license number.
That is when police say Hampel drove at one of the employeesand hither, causing serious physical injuries. A second employee was injured while diving out of the way to avoid Hampel's vehicle.
Hampelis not in police custody, but does have a warrant out for his arrest.
