Sponsored: YWCA Metro St. Louis discusses Domestic Violence Awareness Month

There are resources available for anyone going through domestic violence. You are not alone.

ST. LOUIS — October is domestic violence awareness month.  According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, 1 in 4 women, and 1 in 7 men are victims of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime.  This month is an opportunity to start the conversation about this important issue and to show those impacted, that they are not alone.

Thursday morning, our host Mary Caltrider, sat down with Dr. Cheryl Watkins, MBA, President & CEO of YWCA Metro St. Louis.

The YWCA is offering free, confidential services for victims of domestic and sexual violence. Their drop-in center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. No appointment is necessary.

You can show your support for domestic violence victims by wearing purple on October 19. To view more information and resources, visit ywcastl.org.

If you or someone you know is impacted by domestic violence, you can call their 24/7 crisis hotline at (314) 531-7273. Trained counselors will be on the phone to help provide support.
